Common Sporting Injuries

In pursuit of a healthy active lifestyle, you might experience any one of these common sporting injuries that we can treat at Birdwood Podiatry.

Typically, there are two types of sports injuries, or two phases: the acute phase when injuries happen suddenly and are resolved, and chronic injuries which can happen after repetitive movement over a long period of time.

How do I know if I have a Sporting Injury?

If it’s acute – you’ll know. Acute injuries will often stop you in your tracks and require you to attend to them immediately. Delaying assessment and treatment may increase your risk of experiencing longer term chronic pain or other related conditions depending on the nature of your acute injury.

With chronic sporting injuries, you might experience heel pain in the morning, a painful big toe, bruised toenails, painful knees or hips or experience pain in the ball of your foot.

Each of these symptoms can be assessed by a podiatrist and help you manage them better and oftentimes, progress towards resolving them over time.

How can I book an assessment for a suspected Sporting Injury?
